Around the Primary

Dear Parents

It's hard to believe we are over half way through the term and teachers are now busy preparing for interviews with families. Interviews commence on 19th March. Please remember to book a time with the teachers to find out more about your child's learning this term.

The National Assessment Program Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) is an annual national assessment of all students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9. The students will be assessed in language conventions (spelling, grammar and punctuation), writing, reading and numeracy. The tests are scheduled for the mornings of Tuesday 15th May, Wednesday 16th May and Thursday 17th May. An information brochure has been sent home today with students in Years 3 and 5 - please check your child's school bag.

Next week, the Year 3-6 students will be attending the 'Sculptures by the Sea' exhibition in Cottesloe and also participating in an art workshop. Thank you to Jane Roche, our art specialist for organising this excursion. Thank you, also, to the parents who have volunteered to give up their time to assist the classes. I'm sure this excursion will be a valuable and enjoyable learning experience for the students.

Thank you to all those parents and friends who attended our primary school assembly today. We were entertained by the talented children from 3B. They read beautifully and added to the performance with their superb acting skills.

Our Year 6 students received their leadership badges at today's assembly. Each student in Year 6 will have special responsibilities related to a particular portfolio or house. Congratulations to all our Year 6 leaders.

The Year Three students are looking forward to their Reconciliation Retreat next Friday 16th March. Please keep the children and their families in your prayers as they continue their preparations for their First Confession with Fr Gaetan.

Thank you to the Parents' Association for all the work and preparation they have put into the family picnic. I look forward to seeing lots of families on the primary oval on Saturday at the twilight picnic.

Kind regards
