Scientific Inquiry Skills

It's a wrap!

Scientific Inquiry Skills is a main feature of the new Australian Curriculum, introduced this year to our Year 7 and Year 8 students. The first three weeks of the Science course has focussed on developing these important skills, in particular the importance of formulating a question and developing this into a hypothesis or the basis of an investigation.

Year 8 were given three different types of cling wrap and asked to formulate a question. Inevitably, all students focussed on strength, but how can the strength of cling film be tested? Some students also looked for a link between price and strength. It was a pleasure to see a wide range of ideas and some very creative thinking.
