Around the Primary
Dear Parents
The students have been very excited about celebrating 'Book Week'. They loved visiting the Book Fair in the library to view the latest in children's literature and particularly enjoyed listening to some great stories read by our wonderful staff and our Head Girl, Elysia Korn and Head Boy, Ben Marsh.
The students also attended a musical performance, 'Shine and Light'. The theme of this performance was positive self-esteem and creativity. Our appreciation is extended to the library team for all their hard work behind the scenes.
Our challenge as educators and parents is to make every week a 'book week' for the children and encourage them to read every day to discover the wonderful world of books!
Well done to all the Year 1's who delighted us with their outstanding Assembly item about their class book 'The Gruffalo'. It was magic to watch! Special thanks to Ms Ilich and Miss Saraco for preparing the children so well. A big thank you to all the parents for doing such an amazing job with the costumes - the children certainly captured the audience's attention.
Congratulations to all of our Merit Award recipients. We are very proud of your wonderful efforts!

Recently many of our Year 3, 4 and 6 students have received the Sacraments of Reconciliation, Eucharist or Confirmation in their various parishes. We extend our congratulations and blessings to all these students. May the peace and joy of God's love be with you all of your life. A copy of your child's Sacramental certificate would be greatly appreciated for school records.
We now look forward to seeing all our fathers and their children at the Father's Day Mass next Friday, 4 September. The Mass begins at 7.30am. We hope you can stay and enjoy a breakfast muffin and a tea/coffee after this special liturgy. You are also welcome to visit the classrooms from 8.30 - 8.45am on the day.
Kind Regards
Antoinette De Pinto

ATHLETICS TRAINING
It was very pleasing this week to see the enthusiasm of those students who participated in after-school athletics training. Students in Years 3 - 6 are welcome to come along next Monday or Wednesday afternoon to practise their high jump skills.
NAPLAN
Years 3 and 5 NAPLAN reports have now been posted home. A pamphlet will be enclosed with the report to assist parents to interpret their child's results.
It is important that the NAPLAN results are viewed as a single snapshot of a child's progress at a certain period of time. These results should be considered in conjunction with other information collected by teachers throughout the year. For clarification or for further information on your child's progress, please contact the class teacher.
